Keeping Beautiful Nails

When one considers good grooming, what comes to mind? You are probably thinking of a person's hair, their cleanliness, and perhaps even how they dress. One aspect that you do not want to forget is the nails. Nail care is very important, and a poor set of nails can change how people perceive you.

Taking care of your nails is simple, and it does not have to be a long and painstaking process. You want to keep your nails trimmed or filed, and in the case of those women with longer nails, you want to make sure that they are even on both hands. It is also important that you keep the nails clean at all times. A polishing disk can help you to smooth the surface of the nails. You may also want to add a nail treatment to the nails to strengthen them.

You can use different types of polish for your nails as well. You can use a simple clear coating polish that can add sheen to the nails, or you can choose a colorful polish to match your outfit. You will find that many different types of polish exist, and you can find a color to suit any occasion. Many different accessories now exist for your nails as well. You can choose stickers, rhinestones, and many other types of items to add to your nails.

If you are going to wear open toed shoes, you can't forget about your toenails! Make sure that you follow a regimen similar to the one above so that the nails on the toes look just as good as the nails on your fingers.

It takes only a short time each day to make sure that your nails are looking good. That little bit of time can truly make you shine.

Don't Take A Vacation From Your Pedicure

I am so tired of hearing about how bad the economy is and how everyone is taking a staycation instead of a vacation this year. It's summer and that means beaches, sun, sand, surf and of course gorgeous polished pedicured toes! So I may not be getting my toes done each week like I used to, but that doesn't mean that the pedicures have to stop. I've learned how to do them myself! I bought an Essie Limited Time Promotion: Fun In The Sun kit. The colors are firty and fun. Essie California Coral is a juicy peachy pink and Essie Watermelon is a luscious, juicy, sweet watermelon color. The kit also comes with a Mini 3-Way Glaze that can be used as a base coat, nail hardener and top coat in one. Pefect kit for the summer! So staycation if you must, and give yourself a pedicure.

I love a fresh manicure!

Your hands have to look good at all times, right? Who wants to see stubby, bitten nails or colorless fingers? And with all the wonderful colors to choose from, you can wear a new shade every week. But when you get a manicure, you want it to last for as long as possible. I have found that the best solution to a long lasting manicure begins with a good base coat.

My current favorite is Essie First Basecoat Adhesive Base. It literally acts as a primer for nail polish ensuring better adhesion of the polish to the nail. Basecoat provides a smoother, more receptive surface for polish to adhere to, while filling in the lines and creases in the nail. You will truly notice a difference in the ease of the polish application. And that means a longer lasting main.

A basecoat can also provide a hint of shine, and when used properly in the following order: base coat, polish, top coat, the shine lasts much longer. It also provides a natural shine if applied by itself, for a natural healthy buff. Unfortunately we all like to cut things short and often miss the first step to a great mani. Don't! With a basecoat, your manicure will look better and last longer.

I have always been a bag fan of all things Essie so why not love their basecoat too?

Spring Toes

You can't help but look forward to the Spring. Even if you love the cold and snow, there is something magical about springtime. For me, it's all about the sandals and the new colors for my toes. I am really digging the Essie 2009 Spring Collection. The 6 new shades are a very different color palette than this winter's dark purples, browns, and deep reds. Think nude, bubble gum pinky coral, petal pink, a bit of orange, classic red and a surprise (totally cool!) funky blue. My toes are screaming for One of A Kind!

Eternal Optimist – Spiced Tea Rose (basic nude color)
Flawless – Cherry Blossom Pink
Status Symbol – Feisty Hot Pink
One of a Kind – Poppy Red Kiss
Lacquered Up – Red Hot Crimson
Mesmerize – Royal va-va Blue

Spring is on the way and Essie herself knows what we are looking for:

“This was a season of classic hues,” says Essie Weingarten, president and founder of Essie Cosmetics, Ltd. “Last Fall’s potent colors gave way to softer, muted tones for Spring. I created this collection to flatter that feeling of Spring and gave each shade a feel-good name.”

Now that we have the polish, it's time to get the sandals.
